My Bass And Me - We Are Not On The Same Page

Well here comes words.  I say that my bass and me are not on the same page because I know it wants to be heard and there are time when it's like I'm afraid of it.  It wants to be heard and I would like to hear it.  Here is a process for me that requires my interaction with it in order to get the sound out.  I want it to sound good and to be useful as a musical instrument.  I guess I have a fear that even if I do all the required actions it will not be good enough, that I won't sound good.  I know this in all in my head and for me this is a concern.  I'm going to not give up on this process.  I'm going to be patient with myself.  I'm going to trust the process.
