 Elephant

 The elephant is a giant among the animals, yet it carries itself with grace and dignity. Elephants are strong, yet gentle; intelligent, yet uncomplicated. Elephants seem to me to be at peace with themselves, and that's how I'd like to be.

Why:
 I think cats make wonderful companions. They are warm and friendly, but at the same time they have a will of their own and a truly independent spirit, which is something I admire.
