I ran 3 miles!

I put this under the category "goal setting" instead of "getting healthy" or whatever, because I actually followed through on a goal in my Exercise goal tracker.

And what's better is that I didn't FORCE myself to do it; when I make myself do something, I end up resenting it, and usually end up not doing it anymore (I'm such a child!).

But I had built up my runs to 2 miles w/o stopping (not bad for someone who smoked for 16 years and who didn't take up running until her early 30's!) and last week had slacked off running, always finding an excuse.

So tonight I told myself: "I am running tonight". Simple as that. So I did. And as I passed the 2 mile mark, I thought, "Maybe I'll keep running just a little bit longer. Maybe not til the end - 3 miles - but just a little longer. Maybe I'll run to the end of this block..."

Well, talking to myself like that, I eventually made it all the way home! I have run 3 miles without stopping only one other time in my life - and by the end of that run, my knees felt like they were full of ground glass (I've had arthro surgery on both).

But not this time, just a little soreness...

I plan to build up to 5 miles at a time someday soon, but won't push myself too much. A person doesn't learn to play concert piano in one month...
