Step by Step....Moving Towards My Goals

When you have over 100 pounds to lose I guess it's a good idea to break that up into smaller goals. I began at 304 and set my first goal at 275. Eight weeks later, I am there and moving toward my second goal of 250. I weigh 273 this morning which is 31 pounds down. It isn't the weight loss that matters so much as the consistent focus on my dream which is leading me to choose better foods, smaller portions and to do my exercises every day no matter what. Sure, I didn't feel like it lots of times but I know it takes what it takes so have used any visualization that would help. Once I even imagined a starving baby who I could save if I could only finish my 20 minutes walk on the treadmill. Perhaps that baby was really me but I made it and felt very good about my progress. Doing the tools every day is a monumental help and reminder of what I have set down as important. I am at the beginning of phase 2 and when I get to 250 I will be half way there. Some might think that reaching 200 pounds is hardly a worthy goal but since I have not been there for most of my adult lifetime and certainly not for the past 30 years, it is a valued goal for me. Perhaps when I reach it, I will choose to go further but for now...all I want is to keep going - to choose nutritious foods, reasonable portions, and to exercise with walking, biking, stretching and hand weights until my body responds with strength and flexibility that has been lacking for so long. My breakthrough is that I am happy. I feel like life at 60 is worth living and that I have a future.
