Yesterday was a 'mission' day! Started at 6am and ended at 11.30pm. I worked through until just after ten- I had a night meeting with one of the community groups I work with for my research which is quite a way out of town. Then I went and did a quick grocery shop (as we were out of nearly everything), went and picked up my darling girl from our friend's place who kindly picked her up after school, fed her and then put her to bed until I could come and get her. I was very very tired by the time I got home. I loved every minute of my day mind you- I am certainly not complaining.
I was carrying my sleeping girl inside and thinking about the things still to be done: feed the cat, bring in groceries and put away... when I was stopped in my tracks as I happened to glance upwards. Oh my goodness- I stood spellbound as the sky was filled with stars, and I could clearly see the Milky Way... I wish I could show you now what it looked like.... just magic...
I was reminded of one of my favourite quotes by Ralph Waldo Emerson "When it is dark enough, men see stars"
I took my girl inside and put her to bed. And then did the things I needed to do, but with a lovely quiet joy in my heart to know that while I was doing those everyday things, those stars were shining down on us and I could hear the sea roaring in the still, quiet, cold night.
Then once I was finished, around midnight (after the nightly routine) I crawled into bed and snuggled up to my warm daughter and felt so happy as I drifted off to sleep.
Blessings to all! xx

I know what you mean..
I visited a friend's place in rural Victoria and at night we went for a walk amongst the stars. I'd never seen so many before and was breathtaking and humbling.
I remember one of my old work colleagues, when he worked in Tokyo mentioned he never had a chance to see the stars for the 5 years he worked there.
Perhaps we start to lose our perspective if we don't witness life's beauty once in a while.
