being late

I still think Coach's attitude on being late is harsh and somewhat unrealistic. Coach says weather is not the issue, has he never heard of snow? How about when the car doesn't start because its -14.

I remember once I was late due to traffic. The trip normally took 30 minutes. I gave myself an hour to get to work. I was an hour and a half late to work because of traffic!

Once I got stuck behind a parade!

Now I am a truck driver. Am I supposed to take responsibility when I am given the wrong directions? How about when my dispatcher sets my appointments and he apparently can't read a map or due basic math? Who is responsible if when I am in Los Angeles trying to figure my time for a delivery and when I get to Chicago I get stuck behind a traffic accident, or its game day for some sports team? I can't control how long it is going to take to get loaded or unloaded, or if DOT decides to stop me for an hour to do an inspection.

This kind of unyielding attitude burns my butt.

Agree...to a point.

I know - I always thought, "Never be late and weather doesn't matter," is spoken like a Californian who doesn't have sudden snowfall with trucks out, but no lowering their shovels (what is up with that!).  My co-worker left work early on Tuesday and it still took her nearly 5 hours to make her normally 1 hour drive home.

I don't think he's speaking to people like yourself who always make a considered effort to be on time.

I think he's speaking to people like my friend Sammy - for whom 30 minutes late is really early.  Sammy once told our babysitter she would be there to relieve the sitter at 1...she showed up at 530.  Then got kind of testy when asked for an explanation...

People for whom any excuse would do...there was a strong wind, sun was in my eyes, forgot to water the plant and had to go back home...

It is so amazing how many people don't care

I have some friends who just don't care about being late.  They will spend an extra hour in front of the mirror or tidying their house rather than spending it with friends that they organised to have dinner with.

So who is inportant in their world, well it ain;t me or their other friends.

Here's to enjoying the company of others when we arrange to get together! Have a great day! Angie
