I noticed in your "Future," you still are talking a lot about the past. Since this is just an exercise, try to just focus on what you WILL do in the future. Don't just focus on career, too. What is the "lifestyle that I want?" Take care.

Refer to "My Past". Insert a total lack of a social life or love interest. What has kept me going all these years has been an intense love (substitution?) for fitness/adventure sports/group fitness classes/snowboarding, etc. All the while, I have let working at a JOB and working out substitute for what I a normal person would call a "life". To me, this is FAR from a normal life or what I would consider an adequate existence. Major depressive disorder (major depression) has filtered through everything I have done and left me high and dry in my social and emotional development. This is NOT to say I'm a total automaton or robot. I CAN function properly if given the right career, place, and time. I just seem to suppress my wants/needs/feelings/desires partially due to these factors:

  • 1. major depressive illness,
  • 2. my low income level (~ $16,800 per year) AND
  • 3. (in my mind) a complete lack of a meaningful career where I can enjoy leisure time, repay my debts, function independently, and plan for the future.

Please continue to "My Future".

I joined TOOLS because:
I am searching desperately for change in my life. I am not satisfied with the direction my life has taken. I need upgrades in my financial, social, mental, and physical realms of my life.
You are offered your dream job. What job is it?:
It is working in either marketing, management, or similar field. Additionally, would be interested in working in the snowboard/ski resort environment. A job that blends my interest in snow sports and the mountains. Seek a position where I can utilize my intelligence and/or athletic abilities. Open-minded to non-traditional or niche jobs. Preferably, the employment I obtain will provide me a comfortable lifestyle (paid bills, money left over for sports/fitness-related purchases, save money for the future!, etc.)
My favorite wild animal is:
The lowland gorilla. They're related to us genetically and are very curious. They are very strong physically, yet care deeply for their offspring. They are an amazing animal to behold. Their familial bond really is similar to that of humans. Have always enjoyed the great apes!
Why (describe as much as possible):
Physical strength and familial orientation. Also has my sympathy due to encroachment of humans into their habitat in the Congo and other areas within Africa.
My favorite domestic animal is (if you choose dog be specific with breed etc):
My dog, Timmy. He is a Black Labrador retriever mix. Rescued him from the Animal Care and Control about two and a half years ago.
Why:
He is a little bit wild but has a very loving side to him. He is a great pet! Definitely keeps me attached to nature and interested in his welfare. Provides a certain emotional bond that is therapeutic to me (as well as him, I hope)
A famous Chef will prepare anything you want. What do you order:
I absolutely LOVE PF Chang's Chinese Restaurant! I always order the Kung Pao Chicken. Hot peppers, peanuts, and chicken with a zesty Chinese flair to it.
Why:
I love spicy and adventurous foods (to a certain degree).
Five people either dead or alive you would have at your fantasy dinner party::
JFK, Jake Burton, Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, and Lewis Black.
Why:
Respectively relates to above answers: historical figure and Catholic President, founder of Burton snowboards, current US President and Democrat, former US President, and hilarious comedian.
If a pilot would fly you anywhere you want, you would go to:
South America, Europe, China or other Asian countries, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, Iceland, Alaska, western U.S.A., Hawaii, domestic (U.S.A.) snowboard destinations, many more...
My perfect slice of pizza is:
Cheese, chicken, pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onions, green pepper, and black olives.
You are at a bar. You order this drink:
Seldom drink. When I do, I just get your typical beer: Coors Light, Bud Light, Bud, etc.
You are at a coffee shop. What coffee or tea do you order:
Mocha, espresso, green tea, anything with chocolate and whipped cream (or highly caffeinated).
If a genie could grant you three wishes they would be (separate by commas):
Financial stability, a meaningful social life, a great career (not just another job).
A sunset I remember:
I was in the mountains of Colorado and could see the sun just past the Rocky Mountains!
