There is not enough time to do this section justice at the moment but I wanted to start by introducing myself. My name is Ray, I'm 47, divorced with 2 beautiful kids who are a bit older now. What I am looking to gain from this site is a start to changing some old patterns in my life and replacing them with strong commitments to walking a path that is well intentioned and grounded in good decisions and meaningful purpose. I am hopeful that I will benefit from the teachings and guidance this site has to offer but even more importantly, that I may find new friends with a mutual interest in lending and receiving support and encouragement. Please email me if you're interested in creating a partnership based in giving, sharing, experiencing, and bound by compassion and caring.

Thanks

all questions»

I'm having a tough time at work with a boss that micro manages and can be verbally abusive not just to me but people in my group.

I genuinely care about people and myself and I find it hard not to say anything to my boss when he is abusive or over bearing...I'm afraid for my job. So what I do is take a day off...like I did today so that I can regroup and be able to deal with him again on Monday

I feel just awful right now. I'm worried about my job, I don't like that I lied and called in sick, I don't feel good about myself when I let him get away with micro managing and talking down to people. I'm only 4 months into the job but I've been told that my boss is the way he is and there's no changing that.

I guess I can define a long term plan to deal with this. I'm just really worried about the short term.

I care about my work and about people and both are being impacted. It bothers me to my core.

Anyone who is around and could talk for a bit, I would really appreciate it.

In the scope of things this isn't the worst thing that can happen. It's just a pattern I have and it's been the cause of more serious problems for me in the past.

says: I have a really similar pattern! And I was randomly flitting around showing a friend all about tools, and came across you! I share with you what has helped me. This program for one! It has certainly helped to stay positive and also to reflect on what I can control, which is me! and only me! My boss was similar and also became very depressed in the time that I was working with him. I have a history of 'looking after' such people. But it is not good for me, so I decided to not do that. It did not go well initially, but what I decided was that my life and well-being was more important than any job, even though I loved it. And realising that gave me the strength to state what I needed and what I would allow from others. And while things were hairy for a while, my life now is so much better and I LOVE my job and I am no longer directly responsible to this person, AND as a result of the blow-up between us, he is finally being forced to look after himself by work (how successful that is remains to be seen) but at least a long-standing issue is now being dealt with! And hopefully help to stop this from happening again to others- and all because I started to look after myself. I hope this helps, feel free to stop by profile if you want to chat more! Loads of positive energy and blessings to you!! Pip

What is your answer?

I joined TOOLS because:
I want help to create a way to consistently achieve my goals. I don't want this to become the mechanism for achieving my goals but rather I want it to provide me with the tools and coaching to help me realize my goals on my own. Oh and also to find a partner lend and receive support and encouragement
You are offered your dream job. What job is it?:
I think it would be working with animals. I love animals especially dogs and horses and I'm always horrified by the abuse that goes on in the world towards animals. I'm stiffled in trying to make a difference because I don't know where to start, how to supplement my income and in general feel overwhelmed by the magnitude of the problem.
My favorite wild animal is:
I love wolves especailly but I do love all wild animals.
Why (describe as much as possible):
Much like dogs, I feel that wolves have a loving side to them when they are in their community. They hunt to survive and attack when they are scared but there is a very innocent way about them that attracts me to them. They want nothing more than what they need. The way they live within the pack watching over and taking care of each other is a living example of the way things should be in the wild as well as with people.
My favorite domestic animal is (if you choose dog be specific with breed etc):
Dog. Without a doubt. They have unconditional love which you can't find anywhere else. I like shepards and large breed dogs. Retreivers have such a friendly nature that you can't help but love them.
Why:
Everything I just mentioned above and more:)
A famous Chef will prepare anything you want. What do you order:
Salmon with mashed potatoes prepared with cheese. Maybe asparagus for a vegetable and of course some type of chocolate desert:)
Why:
Salmon is so good for you and at the same time it tastes so good. For the most part, I have simple tastes so the mashed potatoes and veggie suit me just fine
Five people either dead or alive you would have at your fantasy dinner party::
Ronald Reagan, Mother Theresa, Albert Einstein (though I would need someone to explain what he is talking about:)Pope John Paul II, Princess Diana
Why:
I think that Ronald Reagan was the best president this country has ever had and he came at a crucial point in history. He made a difference by being strong and balanced...sure of himself yet not too stubborn. Mother Theresa for her committment to God. I admire this tremendously. She was also an inspiration in how she looked at everyone the same..with love, caring and compassion. Albert Einstein, because I'd like to get some inside tips about the forces that influence this world and the universe from a purely scientific viewpoint. I'd also be interested in his thoughts about a supreme being - God. Pope John Paul II. What can I say. He had gifts to work with leaders in such a way that was unlike anyone else I know of. He impacted so many lives and to the degree possible, he lived a humble life...not wanting the attention on himself. His life was so Christ-centered and if I were to imagine someone walking the path of Christ, it would be Pope John Paull II. Finally Princess Diana. What grace and elegance. I admired her tremendously. She strongly and quietly stood up for what she beleived in. She also lived a life of pain that she dealt with such grace and dignity. her life was sadly short but her humble work with charities and the way she held herself will always be impressed on my mind
If a pilot would fly you anywhere you want, you would go to:
To an island first to relax for two weeks. I would want entertainment, beach and water. After that maybe a trip to Virginia to do some horseback riding and site seeing in West Virginia. Maybe off to Colorado to ski and finally to Florida to visit my sisters
My perfect slice of pizza is:
 Mozerralla Tomatto and Chicken
You are at a bar. You order this drink:
How about an Apple Martini or a nice glass of Cabernet.
You are at a coffee shop. What coffee or tea do you order:
Pretty boring here...just regular coffee with milk.
If a genie could grant you three wishes they would be (separate by commas):
My prayer would be a closer relationship with God, closer relationship with my children and happiness hope and love for my children and siblings
You are going on a long road trip and you can only bring three CD's. Which ones do you bring (separate by commas):
Pink Floyd the wall, Rush Tom Sawyer, John Denver Greatest Hits
If I could do anything for my neighborhood today, it would be:
Bring the neighbors together and get to know each other better.
A sunset I remember:
At Wingersheek beach in Gloucester Ma. I was with my kids, my dogs and we met up with a friend. It wasn't so much the sunset as it was the people I was with for the sunset.
Any character I could be from a movie, TV show or book would be:
Ray Conselas from Field of Dreams.
Why:
He had a beautiful and supportive wife, a beautiful daughter and his dream of seeing his father again came true. And I love baseball.
