I recently went to Henry Rollins spoken word tour 2007 and he said something that really resonated with me and came at a time when I really needed to hear something like this.(for those of you who dont know Henry was the lead singer of the punk rock band Black Flag, he mostly writes and does spoken word stuff nowadays)

Anyway he had to say this:

 "In the grand scheme of things I am certainly not  the greatest singer there ever was and I am certainly not the greatest speaker there ever was but ya know what I show up every day."

Once I had a chance to digest what he was trying to get across the concept behind took on major significance for me.

All the fears, doubts, trying to impose some sort of standard of measurement for what talent is, petty judgments about ourselves and others are just bull**** trappings of a scared  and insecure ego.

So I am introducing the guy that is going to show up everyday. Showing up to ones life and doing what you know needs to be done, acting and behaving like you know you should act and behave......What a novel concept
