Opening the door, just to peek out

It's been eight months now since I ended up living alone.  In that time I have lived in a town where I did'nt know a soul and barely left my flat at all.   The reason for living there was to be near to work but now the job has gone and I have moved back to my home town. »

Friday

Day three of eating much more nutritious and measured portions so I'm feeling better.  Today I paint, plan a directory for my art group, have dinner out with good friends and attend an art show tonight.  It's blue and sunny.  Other than unloading the dishwasher, I have the who»

Great Saturday

I finished my Konah dog painting in art class this morning and a guy actually offered to commission me to paint his dog.  I felt really good about that.  I did a few garage sales, attended an art show and bought a couple Christmas gifts and tonight we had a family party to attend.  Al»

Into action and it feels so good

Making the decision was the first step to getting myself back on track. I did a great lesson on Friday and am half finished my portrait of my son's dog.  Today Pat and I exercised in the pool and went to a great movie, had a nutritious dinner with watermelon for dessert and I am going up to»

Into action

I feel like I have been muddling about....putting my hand to this thing or that but never actually making a committment to anything.  This week I want to sort things out, set a schedule for art lessons, painting, pool, exercise, friendships and relaxation.  I can do this but it does requir»

Sunday....but where is the sun?

Cloudy, rainy, muggy, stifling hot day with enough moisture in the air to make my joints hurt.  I finished up my basement project tonight and it feels good to know that IF I want to sew or wrap or anything else, I can actually find the stuff I need.  There is something to be said for organ»

Time to regroup

Up early and tidied the house so the cleaning lady can do a good job.  By noon when she leaves I know I will feel better about my surroundings.  It dawned a grey and rainy day but Hershey must be walked so that means a bath when we get home.  Bob plans to close the pool soon but I dou»

Every day is a new beginning

And so I woke up and did my stretches before dressing to get ready for an art lesson.  I had to take in a pair of favourite pants which is encouraging.  My goal today is to try to remember to drink more water.  Thirst feels the same as hunger but all too often I choose to eat instead »

Ten day challenge is over....but I keep on keeping on

We'll probably do another one the first of October but meanwhile, it feels good to have a clean beginning back on track.  Tomorrow is the second day of my new art course and I am hoping to finish my ocelot...second nature painting and I am loving doing him.  I've been bogged down w»

A day of gratitude

I am off to attend the funeral for a friend who lost her husband to cancer a couple days ago.  It makes one think seriously about the complexity and the joy of living.  So often I complain about my lot in life when in fact each day that I wake up, I should simply be grateful for one more d»
