At the risk of offending...

At the risk of offending, I don't completely agree that marijuana is a gateway drug. I believe it CAN be. I don't think ANYONE under the age of 18 should be allowed access. I agree that we should obey the laws regarding marijuana but I also think that the laws should be changed. Billions of dollars are spent every year on the "War on Drugs" that could be spent elsewhere. Marijuana also has proven medicinal value and I think busting Cancer houses to stop people's pain is shameful.
The government's real concern about is not about the danger of drugs. It's concern is that it is not making money. So if marijuana were legalized, it could be monitored more closely and the government would get its cut.
I have never heard of a driving related death or someone dying of cancer due to marijuana, yet alcohol and cigarettes do cause these problems. Why does the government allow this? Because they can tax these items despite the number of deaths daily.
For the record, the strongest drug I have ever done is caffeine. I have been curious about marijuana but have chosen not to try it because it is illegal. I agree with Coach that we should obey the laws, but I disagree, at least in part, that marijuana is as bad as everyone thinks it is.
