bruce lee has helped me get better

every day my back gets a little better.  2 weeks ago, i was wondering if i would ever run or dance again.  i'm not doing either just  yet, but i've gone back to work, and i can walk  and stand up in under five minutes.   i'm at the point where i have visions of dancing and martial arts.

throughout this little ordeal i've thought of bruce lee.  he had a back injury which laid him up for many months. during that time he worked out his own fighting method and started a book series about it.  his direction and later success came from that sudden vacation, that abrupt elongated pause, where he had the time to assess his life, and address his future.

or maybe i'm just projecting...

anyway, i spent the last couple of weeks working hard on my jewelry--even when it was only working it out in my head-- and sorting out priorities.  i have learned a lot from this injury.  i'm supposed to move  forward, and i wasn't doing it.

i see great things coming from these weeks of pain.  i'll be thrilled to run again and get back to bellydancing.  but i won't be taking walking for granted anytime soon.

i think i will watch 'enter the dragon' today, as i make jewelry.

Great Idea Great Idea

I think to find an inspirational person who  overcame what we are struggling with is a GREAT idea. I'm sad to hear about your back, because I see in your photo icon that passion and love for movement and the arts. It's right there. It does seem like often reaching for our passion we have obstacles, injuries and challenges come along--or even caused by--that passion. Happily we have people like Bruce Lee who refuse to give up--so yes, watch that movie!

And for every small success:

You did it! You did it!
