Hard times-help!

You know when your gut is just telling you something?  I feel like my job is in danger ( I work in a floor covering store - as a manager). I live in a very rural area, and due to the economy, we have very little in the door traffic. I don't know how long my boss can carry payroll so I am freaking out! I know that when one door closes, another will open, but it doesn't appease the panic, regardlessof faith or not. Just to make you understand, when somebody has a job here, even as a grocery store clerk - they don't leave, because there is little else. I cannot even get a faster internet service where I live because I am so secluded. I guess I'm just dropping my woes out there-venting.  I know I'll be okay......to all my believer friends-say some prayers for me!

All will work out!

Hang in there, I have a feeling it will work out!

Job loss fear

Well...I'm not a job coach but I have some thoughts. One is if your boss is the kind of person you can be open with, go actually ask. How am I doing, is my job secure, is the store having to make some decisions? Then you won't freak out and worry--you'll know.

If in fact there is an issue, maybe you and your boss could even work out something--part time for a while, combine jobs, I donno..there are sometimes options that can work for both of you. The economy is rough, right now, the boss still needs the work done....

Another thing to do is sit down and write at the top of a page the worst scenario. "Yes, I lose my job, not in 3 months, but next week." Or whatever the worst thing in your mind is.

Now...what will you do? 1. Freak out.

2. Panic. 3. Pretend it's not happening !!

Yes...we all do that. Then what? You will have to move past the panic, and worry, into reality. You don't have your job. And so your actual situation is. (I have X in the bank; etc.) And in response to that I will....

Once you have a real plan for the worst case, and you've looked at your actual situation and choices, you'll feel less fear. Don't say "there are no options" because you will still be breathing, and so you will have to do something. Decide the small steps you will take, if indeed really you lose your job.

Which you may not.

BEST with this, keep us posted.
