Where do I go from here?

In short, I came here for help.

Several times over the last decade or so, I've had this gnawing feeling that I made a mistake in my career choice.  I'm the kind of person who needs to grow year after year, but for the last several years I've been stagnant.  The office I was working at closed and with it, it seemed the door closed on my career progress.

Since the office closure, there has been a steady stream of short term positions and failures.  Half a decade of failure has a way of changing your perception.  In 2004, I was at the top of my game.  By 2006 when the office closed, I still considered myself world class.  Now, in 2010, with no real progress to hang my hat on, I can't help but feel like it's time to call it a career and move on.

I guess the only thing to do is save up my money and get into something new.  Am I just a quitter or is it really time to try something new?  A big question is also, what can I do?  What does a 41 year old man do when his career has passed him by?  I have a good salary at the moment, but my happiness is only slightly above an all time low.  How do I walk away from my salary?

Man...I sure could do with life bringing some good fortune my way because at this point, I feel that's the only way out.

48 days to the work you love

voodoo.  I would recommend taking this time to really evaluate what it is you love doing and work towards finding a career in that area.  the subject line is actually a book by Dan Miller that might help you in this process (I'm reading it now Smile) I think in a few years, you'll look back and see that all this current misfortunate was actually a blessing moving you towards your destiny. btw, 41 is prime time for this change!

best of luck to you, and keep your head up!
