The weekend is hard for me

It is hard for me to stay sober especially on the weekend.  It has been six days since my last drink and this will be the first weekend.  All my friends want to go out to bars and then want to know why I won't go.  Even if I tell them I am not drinking they say well just have one or two.  IT has been so hard to say no because I know one will lead to more without a doubt.  IT is saturday and i gotta find something to do to fill the night.  I am gonna make it though even if I don't do anything I am gonna make it through the weekend.  Thanks to all my friends that have been reading I'm sorry again for always talking about myself lately but it is pretty much my only outlet.  I hope everyone has a happy and productive weekend!!!

Learn or create something

Find something more productive to do with your time...learn something new, think of a better place to meet chicks, stay home an brainstorm a new cool surf technology.

You can do it!

I know it must be so hard when all your friends go out clubbing and drinking.  I am surprised though that your "friends" would say just have one or two! My friends would say, just have a coke or a non-alcoholic beer, please be our designated driver! Perhaps you should find some people who would be more supportive. Take a salsa class or see a movie with a friend and have dessert afterwards, go bowling.  You should pat yourself on the back for your success and please do continue!  your true friends will not judge your choice to remain sober. They will be respectful of your decision and still have fun going out with you because they enjoy your company. Have a good weekend!

So Proud of you!

Wow, Look how far you have come!!!!  You doubted yourself in the beginning!  NOW LOOK AT YOU!!!  You are doing a GREAT job!  Keep going!!!!!

Remember my friend John?  John says, "old "friends" get intimidated by your soberness.  Dont be surprised if you find fewer of them sticking around.  Sure it hurts but in the long run, you will be better for it!!!  The problem is not you! They know that they are afraid to admit that it is a problem for them too.  They turn out to be friends, only if you are drunk.  One day, this wont be enough for the sober person".

Have you joined an AA?  it would be a good idea.  They are all over, some are better than others, many have activities for nights like the weekends, find one that fits you!!!  Ie.  Speg suppers and basketball ! Youll find yourself in a group of people with the same goals.  Your experience will help another just as another's experience will help you.

Bottom line You will have non-drinking friends who have a great time while sober!  You get a sponser and if it is a good sponser, they will be there for you thru thick and thin!!! Ie.  The voice at the end of the telephone or the buddy who sits with you in the middle of the night, to help you achieve your goal!  Someone who helps carry you through!

I just want to say that even though it isnt going to be an easy road, it is not impossible!  John owns his own business, hires new non-alcoholics, helps them remake their lives and sticks with them  thru thick and thin!!!  How many of the drinking buddies would do the same?    What is real cool... and I wish this for you....  It is real evident that They are ALL  GENUINELY HAPPY!!!!  Oh, and I was mistaken about Johns, 25 years of sobriety... its 26 going on 27years!!!!

This could be you!

You are doiing real good! Keep going!!!
