Morning Routine

I'm doing my best to follow the morning routine; alas, much is not in my control. Here's how it works for me:

1. Set your alarm clock for time. This I can do. My phone is my clock.
2. Check clock. Done.
3. Place clock in one spot (only turn on and off). Table beside my head.
4. Turn clock off. n/a
5. Clap your hands and say, “I’m having a great day!” Think: Don't wake the wife up by making too much noise. I can hear the puppy. She needs to go out.
6. Breathe in through your nose, deeply filling up your chest, then out through your mouth. Walk with confidence to the bathroom. Hurry to put on slippers and a coat. Where's the leash? The dog is going to wake the wife up.
7. Splash your face with water. Run! Get outside puppy! Don't pee on the floor!
8. Brush your teeth. Get out the door.
9. Look in mirror and smile at yourself. Watch puppy pee. Watch puppy watching me watch her pee.(she looks at me too when she does - really - it's rather disconcerting)
10. Say: "The day is mine!" Say: "Good dog!"
11. Catch yourself saying negative things about yourself.
12. Ask yourself if they are true or false.
13. If they are false, say the opposite thing to yourself.
14. If they are true, change how you treat yourself. Do not put yourself down. Instead say, “I can change these things and make my life better."
15. Any time I am presented with a problem I will find my opportunity.
